Basket Coach Manager
We are Getting close. Recently, we began working on the Tactics Page. Kudos the developers!!! Please note that the Tactics page is not complete. This version will probably be limited in alpha testing.
The concepts behind the game tactics are:
• give the manager several options to control his/her lineup and player rotations,
• allow the manager to set both offensive and defensive schemes, and
• let the manager control the minutes his players are on the court.
Below is a description of how you set tactics:
First, you set your bench. Your goal is to place 12 players on your bench. You will have 5 starters, and seven rotation players. It is suggested that you have a plan for all 4 quarters of the game. This will become clear when you begin setting conditions (this will be explained later).
Next, you set the offense you will run and finally the defense your team will play.
The options for offense are:
• Motion-this is the default offense: normal offensive pace
• Look Inside: normal pace
• Run N Gun: fast pace
• Isolation (Inside/Outside) Best inside/outside offensive player is featured offensive player; slow pace
The defensive options are:
• Man to Man (M2M): this is the default defense
• 3-2 zone: this defense focuses on putting pressure on outside shooters
• 2-3 zone: this defense focuses on putting pressure on inside shooters
• Box-In-One (Inside/Outside). Best inside/outside defender is paired against opponent’s best inside/outside shooter
Below, is a description of how the tactics will work
Offensive Scheme
| Description | Strong Against
| Weak Against
|
Motion (Default offense)
| This offense is based on sets that feature pass, cut, back cut and pick and roll offense movement.
| Box-In-One zone
| M2M
|
Run and Gun
| This offense focuses on speed and getting ball to open shooter. Fast pace with outside shooting
| M2M
| 3-2 zone
|
Look Inside
| This offense focuses on getting best shot for inside players, slightly faster pace.
| 3-2 zone
| 2-3 zone
|
Isolation (Inside/Outside)
| This offense focuses on getting ball to best inside/outside scorer. Slower pace
| 2-3 zone
| Box-In-One zone
|
Finally, you set the various conditions for the game. This is where your managerial creativity is demonstrated. It is here that you truly dictate the pace of the game. The primary conditions are listed below. More will come as the Game Engine continues to evolve.
• Change(s) made at start of each quarter. This can be offense, defense and/or players
• Change(s) made between minutes 1-9. This can be offense, defense and/or players
• Change(s) made when team is 20+, 30+ and/or 40+ points ahead/behind. Again, this can be offense, defense and/or players
.
As you can see, the conditions will play a big role in your “in-game” strategies. For example, you can set your offense/defense to change at a specific time in the game; and you can change players at a specific point/time in the game (remember, this will not be exact, may be at first foul after a specified time, etc.),
Please remember, these tactics are subject to change at any time. This game is still a “work in progress”.
